SPOTFIRE 35W Hybrid Stereo Amplifier
Here is a photo of the prototype SPOTFIRE hybrid stereo amplifier that started life in the rats-nest on the bench a couple of posts ago. It's in the final stages of design and needs some PCB changes and documentation, but it's an absolute hit performer. Here it is undergoing some two-tone intermodulation tests
Power is 35 Watts per channel with both channels driven to full power, and it's flat (+/- 1dB) from 12Hz to 50kHz. The circuit has been tailored to give a nice amount of second harmonic distortion for that slightly warm but dynamic sound our amps are known for.
It has all the features of the larger all-tube SE5 amplifier in a smaller case but with lots more power, and is a perfect match for the PR5 phono preamplifier. Let just say at this stage the design is somewhat different - more on that when the amp is ready to release.
