This upgrade package contains two audiophile-grade output transformers and two audiophile-grade coupling capacitors. it is supplied in place of the standard components in the SE5 kit set.

Changing output transformers has the greatest effect on the sound of a valve amplifier and these audiophile-grade transformers achieve a much wider frequency response with lower overall losses, especially at high frequencies.

The precision coupling capacitors are metallised polypropylene film capacitors with extremely low residual resistance, low inductance, and low 'microphony' (where the capacitor can act as a microphone and colour the sound). The result is greater clarity, detail, and authenticity to the sound.

This audiophile upgrade is highly recommended if you have, or plan to have, high-grade loudspeakers and a quality music source.  

The audiophile upgrade can only be used in Triode or Pentode SE5 output stage connection modes. Ultra-linear mode is not supported  - triode mode is almost universally preferred by audiophiles.
